About MIDSEC

The Mid-Norway Defence and Security Cluster (MIDSEC) is a Norwegian cluster devoted to developing business opportunities and promoting innovative solutions within the defence and security industry.

Our member companies are invested in creating new business opportunities and participating in a growing defence and security market through developing technologies and solutions improving civil protection and defence nationally and internationally.

With 34 member companies and several other partners and affiliated organisations, MIDSEC asserts solid expertise on autonomy, maintenance, logistics, monitoring systems and international industrial cooperation, among others.

The members provide technology, industrial products and services to both civil and defence organisations:

  • Pioneering solutions to environment and object-based security needs, both at sea and on land.
  • Advanced autonomous systems and artificial intelligence
  • Sustainable security solutions through physical security, electronics, maintenance systems, cybersecurity and logistics, among others.
  • Quality machining and mechanical products.

Close collaboration

Our close collaboration with the Norwegian Armed Forces and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) contributes to innovative technology meeting the requirements of the future.

MIDSEC is involved in the growing activity at Ørland Main Air Station, the main base of the Norwegian F-35 fighter jets, as well as detachments of NATO’s strategic surveillance aircraft and Norway’s 330 squadron search and rescue helicopter service.

Our members

MIDSEC is led by a board of central member companies. Administratively responsible for the cluster is FI, a regional innovation company. MIDSEC holds the rank “Arena Cluster” in the Norwegian Innovation Clusters Programme. Trøndelag county council, Innovation Norway and core member companies fund the cluster.
